In today’s world, keeping yourself fit and healthy is
one of the biggest challenges. In this fast-paced urban life, each and every
person is busy complaining about no time or less time to invest in their
health. We all are surrounded by fast foods, social media, electronic devices
which adversely affect our healthy life practices. To be healthy you need to
make some efforts. Maintaining health requires smart lifestyle choices.
So, here I am gonna share with you top 10 ways to stay
fit and healthy even in this unhealthy urban lifestyle:
- Have a morning routine- Prepare
for yourself a healthy morning routine which starts with yoga and a healthy breakfast.
By healthy breakfast I mean a diet full of proteins, multivitamins & fiber.
You can get all these from whole grains, fruits and vegetables. A healthy breakfast
full of multivitamins will boost your metabolism for the whole day and keep you
energetic and physically active.
- Change your eating plan- By changing your eating plan, I mean including all the colors in your diet. Eat a lot of fruits and veggies. Prepare a proper eating plan like set timings for each of your meal. You should have at least 3-4 meals in day. And add snacks between your meals so you do not crave all the time. In order to change your eating habits you need to change your mindset.
- Stay hydrated-
Always stay hydrated. Keeping your body completely hydrated is very essential
for good health. Hydration helps in improved performance, digestion, increased
metabolism rate and prevents fatigue. A dehydrated body is not energetic and
inefficient.
- Reduce your salt & sugar intake- Excessive
sugar intake can lead to diabetes and excessive salt intake can lead to high blood
pressure which can lead to many health problems. So, reduce your salt and sugar
consumption. On the other hand, choose products which are low in sodium
content.
- Maintain a healthy weight-
Try to maintain a healthy body weight. Overweight can lead to many health
problems like fatigue, loss skin, skin diseases etc. So try to maintain a
healthy body weight according to your age and height.
- Be Physically active- Being physically
active means not sitting at a place for hours doing your job. Get up and move
that body. If you are talking to someone on phone, then don’t just sit at a place.
Walk & Talk. Have a daily routine of exercise of about 25-30 minutes. Do
basic exercises like push-ups, pull-ups, squats, stretching, jogging etc. You
can also do yoga or opt for Zumba or cardio workouts. Climb stairs instead of
using lifts or find workouts you love.
- Have a Good sleep- Don’t
make any compromise on your sleeping hours because of your job or anything else.
You need to have a proper sleep of at least 8 hours. A good sleep is very important
for your health because our body heals while we are sleeping. If you lack proper
sleep you will not feel energetic the next day and your mind will not able to cope
up with the stress.
- Find ways to be stress free- If
you are dealing with a lot of stress then your body and mind will slowly and
slowly degrade. Calm your mind. Start meditation. Go and hang out with your
family & friends. And as we all know; laughter is the best medicine. So,
keep smiling no matter what.
- Try to be socially more active- Now
days, we get so much consumed in our work that we forget to enjoy our life and
spend some quality time with our family & friends which adversely affects our
mental health. So to feel more fresh and active mentally, you need to be
socially more active and open. Get involved in your community. Try to maintain
a healthy attitude towards everything you do. Always be curious about your life.

- Talk to a
Physician- Last but not the least, always stay connected to
your physician. Talk to him if you are facing some issue, be open to him. He is
there to help, so tell him what’s your problem whether it’s mentally or
physically.
